modern wedding invitations

Postcard wedding invitations are a popular choice for many brides. There are many choices of postcard invitations from classic to modern designs, and there is something to suit everyone's taste.

Traditional Postcard Invitations

Traditionally wedding invites were plain sheets of card with your wedding details written in black ink on the front. Modern equivalents can be purchased today but extras such as embossing and foil can be supplied. Raised ink makes a great addition to these simple but elegant cards. It adds texture and interest to the design. Some printers will have a choice of raised ink, you don't have to stick to plain black.

Another great way to add that special something to your wedding stationery is to choose foil printing. Foil can be combined with embossing and an elegant serif font to create a timeless and classic feel to your wedding stationery.

If completely plain cards are too simple for your taste you can choose a design that uses a ribbon tied in a knot or bow to complete the design. Alternatively other embellishments such as paper flowers, bows, charms and pearls can be utilised to decorate the wedding card.

Modern Postcard Wedding Invites

Modern invitations come in a wide range of styles and use many printing techniques and paper finishes.

If you want to have foil printing but have a more modern feel to your wedding stationery combine the foil printing with coloured card. Dark purple, chocolate brown and dark green work well with gold foil. Light pinks, lime green and blue work well with silver.

Another option to consider is velum overlaid invitations. Velum overlaid designs consist of a single sheet of plain or patterned card overlaid with a sheet of velum printed with your wedding details. Often the velum is attached to the card underneath with a ribbon threaded through a hole in both the top and bottom sheet.
